What We Measure, and Why

Most hormone testing answers one question at a time. We start from the opposite premise: your estradiol levels, your cortisol rhythm, your thyroid function, and your metabolic markers are one connected picture, and reading them together is what makes a protocol precise rather than approximate.

This piece walks through the full Lineria panel — what each marker measures, why it belongs in the panel, and how your physician uses the relationships between them to build a plan that is yours.

Estradiol is the marker most people expect, but it is rarely informative on its own. A single value tells you little; the same number can reflect very different things depending on where you are in your cycle, whether you are cycling at all, and what your FSH is doing alongside it. We read estradiol in context — paired with FSH, progesterone, and your reported pattern — because the relationship is the signal.

Cortisol is where the picture often becomes clear. We measure it across the day rather than at a single point, because the shape of the curve matters more than any one reading. A flattened rhythm, an elevated evening value, a blunted morning rise — these patterns explain symptoms that a noon blood draw would miss entirely, and they frequently change what we do about everything else on the panel.

Thyroid, metabolic markers, and a small set of inflammatory measures round out the panel. None of these is hormonal in the narrow sense, but each one shapes how your hormones behave and how you feel day to day. When your physician reads them together, the goal is not a longer list of numbers. It is a shorter, clearer explanation of what is happening, and a plan that follows from it.
